CASTLE ISLAND
A small island in the middle of beautiful Lough Key, home to Macdermott's Castle, a superb castle.
Castle Island is a small island in the middle of the beautiful Lough Key. The island is essentially composed of a superb castle, built in the 13th century. The building is also called Macdermott's Castle, after the family that occupied the place for a long time. An influential family of the region who could take advantage of the ideal situation of its castle to watch the surroundings. To admire it, you can go around it on board of a boat of one of the small private companies around the lake. A very nice outing in perspective.
