MONASTERY OF DRYANOVO (МАНАСТИР МАНАСТИР)
This monastery, nestled in a forest by the river, was built to celebrate Bulgaria's victory over Constantinople.
Nestled in the riverside forest, built in the early 12th century to celebrate Bulgaria's victory over Byzantium (1187). It was destroyed by the Ottomans and rebuilt by the Bulgarians twice. The second time only the stone walls of the charred church and part of the fence remained. You can still see the holes formed by Fazlu Pasha's shells in the stone walls. Some old icons are preserved there, painted by masters from Gabrovo.
