THE CASTLE OF THE PRINCES OF CONDE
The castle of the Princes of Condé was once the seat of a renowned file factory that employed up to 260 workers.
Although it bears the name of the Condé family, who bought and restored it in the 17th century, the castle first belonged to the Receiver of Finances, Mr. Merlan de Beaumont, a century earlier. After the Revolution, it was sold as part of the national assets. For a time, it was the seat of a renowned file factory (the Proutat establishments) which employed up to 260 workers. The building, which used to house a vocational training center, will become a restaurant in the spring of 2022. In the courtyard, remains of the ramparts are still visible, witnesses of the turbulent past of this Côte-d'Or town.
