Museum featuring 500 different files, several machines and the history of the file factory and its 500 employees.
Arnay-le-Duc boasts one of the most astonishing museums in the world, dedicated to the age-old tool of the file! It's run by the Association Mémoires de la Lime and its dozen or so volunteers, including president Raymond Thierry. Their mission: to introduce visitors to the history of the Proutat-Michot-Thomeret file factory, which played a key role in the history of Arnay-le-Duc between 1845 and 1958. For around 30 to 45 minutes, discover 500 different files, several machines and the history of the file factory and its 500 employees. A fascinating museum of local industrial heritage.
