The original building was built between 1908 and 1909 on the initiative of Dionýz Andrássy, a passionate collector of fine arts, to present his collection. Today it belongs to the Rožnava Mining Museum and includes the Andrassý family's private collection, which includes portraits from the 18th and 19th centuries in Hungary, and landscapes of the castles of Krásna Hôrka (currently under renovation after its 2012 fire) and Betliar.
