RAKOVICA MONASTERY
Built in 1502, this monastery played an important role in Serbian social and religious life. It consists of the main church dating from the 16th century and the monastic residence, both built in the style of the medieval Morava school of architecture.
The monastery has gold liturgical objects and a collection of icons from the 18th and 19th centuries. On the square is the mausoleum of the Obrenović brothers and General Blaznavac. On the north side of the church was burned by the Turks Vasa Čarapić, hero of the first Serbian uprising.
