LAKE GRAČANICA
This artificial lake (Gračaničko jezero, Liqeni i Graçanicës) was created in 1966 to supply Pristina with water. For this purpose, the Badovac ravine was flooded by the Gračanka River, held back by means of a 52 m high and 266 m wide dam. In the process, the hamlet of Novo Selo was buried and its inhabitants relocated under Mount Androvac, near the present "bear sanctuary". The lake covers about 100 km2 (4.5 km long, 800 m wide) with a maximum depth of 29 m. In summer, the banks are suitable for fishing and picnics.
