Church that brought together Spaniards, Portuguese, black and Arab slaves, and Bimbaches converted by force to Catholicism
This church, built in 1530, is of great religious and historical value. At that time, it gathered under its bell tower Spaniards, Portuguese, black and Arab slaves and Bimbaches who had been forcibly converted to Catholicism. Inside it houses a beautiful altarpiece by Antonio de Orbaran, a unique piece of Canarian Baroque art. As well as a Flemish sculpture of Our Lady of Candelaria, in polychrome wood, dated from the 16th century.
