With its imposing twins of neo-novel style, a major historical site of Selma, but also a parish still active that was built in 1908 by a black architect, A.J. Farley. It was the place of great rallies for the civil rights campaign in the early 1960 s. And, in particular, the starting point for the Selma marches in Montgomery, whose first (attempt) took place on March 7, 1965 and is known as Bloody Sunday because of the terrible violence experienced by the demonstrators today. First at the level of the Edmund Pettus bridge, then the police forces and the white supremacy continued the demonstrators to the church, some on horseback, with no hesitation in rolling and laughing everyone, children and elderly people understood. Most of the people who organize the tours have been present that day and will tell you their experience. The church is also famous for hosting Martin Luther King on several occasions, coming to play and support civic movements at Selma, which allowed him to be immortalized on the big screen, particularly in the film Selma d 'Ava duvernay, which shows a faithful replica of the building's interior.
