In the main square of Valledupar, the Vallenato Festival used to take place
The main square of Valledupar was renovated in 2019, with the new Francisco El Hombre dais and the names of the Vallenato Kings. The bronze sculpture The Revolution in Motion is the work of Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt. The plaza used to be the site of the Vallenato Festival, where important political and religious events are celebrated. On weekends, musicians come to play at the foot of the old mango tree. It is said that if the audience reaches the tree during the concerts, it means that the musicians are not bad!
