Depending on the season, you can enjoy several visits and activities. Find out about the specific dates at the Visitor Center.
Audiotour (30 ¾ min at 2 hours). You can join an audio tour to listen to the history of Rushmore Mountain through music, narration, interviews, historical recordings and sound effects, while walking along the scenic road around the park. Guided tour, with accompanying brochure to book in the building opposite the Visitor Center, in English, German, Lakota and Spanish.
Exhibitions to Sculptor's Studio (15 min). Learn more about the tools and techniques used by mountain sculptors. Every day during the summer, lectures on workers' history, tools demonstrations and exhibition of artist molds. Attention the site is in renovation until May 2019.
Lakota, Nakota and Dakota Heritage Village (10-30 ╚ min). To discover the history of the Black Hills and American tribes of America, which have inhabited this land for thousands of years. Located along the first section of the Presidents' Trail, this field highlights the local customs and traditions of Indian communities.
Walk commented by a ranger (30 min). Walking along the first half of the Presidents' Trail, at the foot of the sculptures, is a playful way to learn about the natural and cultural history of Rushmore Mountain and the Black Hills. The walk, which is only on foot, starts at the Grand View Terrace. These commented steps are offered daily during the summer months.
Evening and lights (45 min). Join a ranger in the outdoor theater for a conference on US presidents, patriotism and history. The evening continues with the projection of the film America's Helsinki Legacy and ends with the illumination of the monument.
Sculpture workshops (1 week). Free sculpture workshops on the Borglum View terrace by artists in residence at Mount Rushmore. It is interesting to stop there to see how we learn to carve clay and stone according to techniques similar to those used by artist Gutzon Borglum.
Area of exploration for children (10-30 ╚ min). For children of all ages. This interactive area, located outside the Grand View Terrace, allows them to discover the nature, culture and historical aspects of Rushmore Mountain and Black Hills.
