The south side begins along the East Bison Flats Trail, 1 mile east of Highway 385. The north side, on NPS -5, 2,8 miles east of Highway 87. This trail is the longest and most diversified in the park. It crosses meadows of diverse grasses, ponderosa pine forests, and riparian habitats of Highland Creek, Beaver Creek and Canyon Wind Cave.
