Domaine de Beaupré has opened its doors in a château formerly known as Château de la Prairie. Far from being just another charming hotel, its new owners Dominique and William Pralong have destined it for something more: a place where art lovers in general can meet and exchange ideas. As soon as you step through the wrought-iron gates, you have the impression of being in a setting worthy of Sleeping Beauty. All the rooms, accessed via a magnificent staircase in a classy, high-ceilinged setting, bear a name: Frédéric Bartholdi, Albert Schweitzer, Théodore Deck. The décor is classic, with bathrooms featuring vintage 1940s bathtubs, bidets and washbasins. The catering is inventive, table d'hôtes style; in other words, no menu to choose from, just eat what's there. You'll appreciate the art objects scattered around and the planned exhibition rooms.
