HUGSTEIN CASTLE
Castle dating from the 13th century on the Buhl and Guebwiller sides, renovated to become part of the cultural attractions of the Florival
This castle was founded around the 13th century on the Buhl and Guebwiller borders by Hugo, abbot of Murbach and a loyal follower of Frederick II of Hohenstaufen. Built at the mouth of a valley, Hugstein was a strategic location for defending Guebwiller and Murbach Abbey, although its role was essentially residential. Listed as a Monument Historique in 1930, the local Pro Hugstein association is striving to make it one of the Florival's cultural attractions, within the framework of the tourist development brought about by the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire label.
