The museum houses more than 500 pieces by Théodore Deck, as well as a fine collection of minerals, and is well worth a visit in Guebwiller.

An innovative artist, Théodore Deck transformed the art of 19th century ceramics by dedicating his life to perfecting the art of earthenware. Obsessed with colour, he is the discoverer of the inimitable Deck blue, a brilliant and very special turquoise blue. The museum houses more than 500 pieces of this child of Guebwiller and to complete the collection, the museum houses one of the most beautiful collections of minerals in the region. Pieces of art from the principality of Murbach, development of local crafts and industry, the museum retraces the history of Guebwiller on 5 floors.

Belle découverte d'un immense artiste

A museum that appears to attract very few visitors, despite having a genuinely interesting collection of minerals in the basement, porcelain on the second floor and even a collection of hundred plus year old bicycles in the attic. The bicycles must have been highly uncomfortable then, and the handbrake appears to have been invented before the chain.
