BROOK FALLS
Chutes is famous for its large population of brown bears, who come to Katmai National Park to feed on fresh salmon.
These falls are known for their large population of brown bears that appear on Alaskan postcards. The bears come to feed on fresh salmon during the summer to store up the fat they need to survive the winter. The starting point of the adventure is King Salmon, a former World War II military base (population 450). Another access point for tourists is Brooks Camp located 30 miles from King Salmon. This is the most developed area, with several observation platforms.
