This late 12th century Romanesque church is located in the upper part (Certaldo Alto), i. e. the medieval part of the city. In addition to many works of art, it is known to house the remains of Blessed Giulia della Rena, patron saint of Certaldo, and, above all, of the great writer Boccaccio (Giovanni Boccaccio of his Italian name), originally from Certaldo. It is also in the cloister, adjacent to the church, that the museum of sacred art is now located.
