Home to Boccaccio, the famous 14th-century Florentine writer.
Residence where the famous medieval poet Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375), precursor of humanism, lived. There is a library, a small museum and the room of the writer of the Decameron. Written between 1349 and 1351, this prose short story, of indisputable modernity, represents a formidable testimony to Florentine society in the 14th century, and marked the entry of a new genre into European literature. Indeed, Boccaccio is the founder of an illustrious Italian humanist literary tradition, which inspired the entire European Renaissance.
