It dates from the 15th century. Even if only ruins remain, its visit is strongly recommended, if only for the beauty of the surrounding nature. The castle is indeed built on a hill overlooking a river and a magnificent small lake. Svirzh was originally a fortress built in a rather original and efficient way. But after its reconstruction in the 17th century, the castle's architecture lost all its identity as a fortified castle. Next to the castle is the Renaissance style church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
Svirzh is located 45 km south-east of Lviv. You can reach it by bus from station 5 (Vul. Zelena, direction Peremishlyany-Svirzh, bus every hour) or by car by road H09 and then at Bibrka, turn onto road T14-11.
