COLD WAR MUSEUM (ВОЙНЫ ВОЙНЫ МУЗЕЙ)
The secret base for submarines was built in 1957-1961. Hidden under the Tavros mountain, it is equipped with an entrance inside the bay and an exit to the sea, connected by a 360 m long canal. The base had the appearance of a real underground city where one could live without ever going out for at least one month. It was planned to accommodate up to 14 submarines and 3 000 people, and to withstand nuclear attacks. After the collapse of the USSR, the base was abandoned. In 2001, Ukrainian President Keonid Kuchma gave him to the Army Museum and from 2003, she was open to visits. Needless to say, nowhere else will you find a museum of this type…
