This national park, covering an area of 739 km2, is distinguished by its climate, fauna, flora and man-made lake.

Khao Sok National Park actually covers an area of 739 km2, but it can be considered much larger if we add the area of the neighbouring national parks Kaeng Krueng (541 km2), Sri Phang Nga (246 km2), and Khlong Phanom (410 km2), as well as the reserves Khlong Saeng (1,156 km2), Khlong Yan (488 km2), and Khlong Naka (480 km2). This fantastic biosphere covers more than 3 500 km2 in total!

Climate.

Khao Sok has the highest rainfall in Thailand (3,500 mm per year). The climate is humid with frequent tropical rains. Temperatures generally range from 25°C to 32°C.

Flora.

About 200 species are present, from giant bamboos to palms to banana trees. The most famous plant is the rare rafflesia flower, which is admired from all over the world! This giant flower, which can reach 90 cm in diameter and 7 kg, blooms from December to March.

Wildlife.

The park has an extraordinary population of mammals. Are present on the site: the tiger, the leopard, the bear, the langur with glasses, the macaque, the gibbon, the elephant, the tapir, the barking deer, the giant squirrel, the flying squirrel, the pangolin, the binturong... Monkeys and elephants are the most frequently observed mammals. Also many species of reptiles and amphibians, including several varieties of cobras and pythons. The place is also famous for birdwatchers, where you can see the capped hornbill, the great hornbill and the kingfisher, among others. Not forgetting the numerous insects and arachnids such as the tarantula, the scorpion... Of course you will need time and patience if you wish to observe the wildlife in its natural habitat.

Cheow Larn Lake. The artificial lake of the Khao Sok park covers an area of 165 km2. The water is clear and of a beautiful emerald color. More than a hundred limestone karst peaks emerge from the still water, remnants of what were once peaks, some reminiscent of the famous Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. These majestic landscapes can be visited by boat, which will take you to the discovery of amazing panoramas, waterfalls, caves, wildlife... But for an absolutely unforgettable experience, you must stay at least one night in one of the floating bungalows of the lake. Some resorts on the lake lend kayaks if you are adventurous by nature. And what could be better than a dip in the lake when you wake up, surrounded by lush nature and beautiful scenery?

Oh my god. Vreselijke trip.
