BOURGLINSTER CASTLE
This splendid castle, once home to the Lords of Linster, has belonged to the Luxembourg state since 1968. Its earliest foundations date back to the 10th century, but many additions have been made since then. Even today, it is entered via an impressive stone bridge, leading to a portal surrounded by two towers. The imposing walls house an attractive inner courtyard, as well as a Gothic tower and chapel.
The site has been completely restored. The Côté Cour brasserie is now housed in a wing of the château. Managed by Michelin-starred chef René Mathieu, the establishment offers top-quality local cuisine, with an emphasis on vegetables. The restaurant boasts a superb terrace overlooking the château ramparts, and has been awarded a 15.5/20 rating by Gault & Millau.
The building hosts concerts all year round and a classical music festival (Festival de Bourglinster), theoretically in early autumn. With capacity for up to 200 guests, the château can also be booked for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions.
The château's former stables have been restored and house an artistic creation center, "les Annexes", where national and international craft professionals work. The site also organizes training courses in ancient crafts such as bookbinding, art restoration and ceramics.
Guided tours are offered by appointment by the Junglinster Cultural Commission.
