Bogenšperk is a Renaissance castle, first mentioned in 1533, where historian Valvasor lived and worked. In his office, the intellectual worked for some twenty years on his gigantic work Die Ehre des Herzogsthums Crain (The Honour of the Duchy of Carniola), a veritable historical and geographical encyclopaedia, published in Nuremberg in 1689. The castle was restored in 1972. Beautiful collection of engravings, geodetic instruments and an ethnographic collection from the time of Valvasor.
