The museum has been housed in a former brewery since 1992. It shows the flora and fauna, the geology of the Mala Fatras and life in19th-century Rajec. The ethnographic exhibition deals with the craft traditions of the Rajec valley, in particular sculpture and fur work. One of the museum's most precious exhibits is Maria Theresa's letter of 1749, exempting the people of Rajec from tolls throughout Hungary.
