THE WILDERNESS BATTLEFIELD
Go there and contact
It was a rather atypical battle that took off in the Wilderness forest from May 5 to 7, 1864, since at the end of fighting none of the two armies lost ground against the enemy. Southern General Robert Lee, winner of two decisive battles in the vicinity of previous years (Frederickburg and Chancellorsville), once again impressed him with his tactical superiority, while the Pacific troops were galvanized by the speeches of General Ulysses S. Grant who promised Lincoln not to retreat. A second battle had to follow the following day, that of Spotsylvania. Today, we can visit this vast land although little is visible.
