The Battle of Chancellorsville (-6 May 1863) was a very important event in the war of Secession and the opportunity for General Lee, head of the Southern army, to demonstrate a sense of extraordinary tactical tactics. This battle pitted Potomac army soldiers, led by Major General Joseph Hooker. Although more than twice lower in number, the confederate won victory thanks to a bold tactic, which took the Hooker troops by surprise. Lee decided to split into two groups his strength, albeit reduced. He handed over 28 000 men to his right arm, Lieutenant-General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, so that he could reverse the opposing army. It was late in the day that he was mortally injured by friends. Lee's landslide victory was counterbalanced two months later by his defeat at Gettysburg, a real turning point of the war for the benefit of the North.
Several paths allow to go to the key points of the battlefield. Among them the glade of Hazel Grove, strategic location of the battle, Salem Church, who served as a hospital on both camps, or Stonewall Jackson Shrine, plantation where "Stonewall" Jackson made the soul.
