It was in this dependence on Chandler's plantation that General Thomas Jonathan'Stonewall'Jackson (1824-1863) went out. Wounded by a friend shot at the Battle of Chancellorsville, he had to cut his left arm before taking him here waiting for a train transfer to the city of Richmond. He died from his injury to the complications of pneumonia.
The building was the victim of a fire shortly after the war and restored during the th century. It recréa the atmosphere of the last moments of this emblematic military leader of the South, hero of the American-Mexican war, and then brigadier general exemplary on the battlefield of Manassas, where he received the nickname of «stonewall», literally «stone wall».
