This beautiful brick house in the heart of the historic district is not the one where James Monroe, the future president of the United States and father of the famous Monroe doctrine, lived. But his descendants wanted to pay tribute to him here, in this city where he was he the law for a few years, collecting a collection of over 1 600 objects and 10 000 documents.
