EDGAR ALLAN POE MUSEUM
Museum dedicated to the writer Edgar Allan Poe with exhibits of his objects and letters to him
This museum, established in 1922, is entirely dedicated to the writer Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849). The latter, born in Boston and orphaned when he was still very young, was adopted by a Richmond family. As an adult, he spent many years writing there. And it is here, in this museum, that you can be as close as possible to the man behind the successful writer, thanks to exhibitions gathering certain objects that belonged to him or letters that were sent to him. It should be noted that Poe has never lived in this residence, which is also known as the oldest building in Richmond (built in 1740).
