Hikes in the Massif of Anaga following a marked trail
Cruz del Carmen. This visitors' center provides information on the natural environment and the various hikes, some of which require prior authorization.
Cabezo del Tejo (1h30 to 2h round trip). After El Bailadero is the junction of the Cabezo del Tejo forest track, where you can park for the most beautiful hike in the Anaga, through laurel forest. A signposted path leads off to the left of the track to the breathtaking prospect of Chinobre, 909 m above sea level, and then on to the Anambra rock, a fine example of neck rising above the forest. Then on to Cabezo del Tejo, another viewpoint. Unless you want to descend to El Draguillo and the north coast, you'll return to the starting point via the forest track on the right. The return through the forest is more monotonous and takes 40 minutes.
Benijo lighthouse (2h30 to 3h for 7 km, 5 to 5h30 for 15 km). At the end of the route des crêtes, in Chamorga, a path leads down to the barranco de roque Benijo on the northern slope. From here, you can reach the old Anaga lighthouse, which offers a fine view of the coast and the Anaga rocky outcrops offshore. Rather than return to Chamorga by the same route, we'll go further north, via Tafara: this is a more difficult path and a steeper climb over the barranco (7 km route). From the Anaga lighthouse, you can avoid the climb back up to Chamorga and instead follow the coast to El Draguillo, then take the Taganana - Almaciga road, a further 8 km.
