Founded in 1965, the Louisiana State Prison Rodeo is quite unique. While the first two years of the rodeo were not attended by spectators, many now come to watch the various events in which the inmates participate (only the barrel race is not open to inmates). The rodeo rewards good behavior by offering the inmates the opportunity to participate in the events (and thus to win cash prizes), and to sell their arts and crafts created in prison as a hobby. A must see!
