PALACE DEL MARQUED OF SANTA CRUZ
Renaissance palace with classical patio and rooms with Italian frescoes representing mythological scenes
It is an enormous Renaissance building that the Marquis of Santa Cruz, Don Alvaro de Bazán, had built in 1564. It was upon seeing it that Philip II had the same Italian architects build the balustrades of the monastery of El Escorial. A classical patio can be seen here. The main rooms are decorated with Italian frescoes representing mythological scenes. Today it houses the headquarters of the General Archive of the Navy.
