Longueuil is a city of over 250,000 inhabitants, located in the suburbs of Montreal, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the Montérégie administrative region of Quebec. It forms the heart of the Longueuil agglomeration, the most urbanized sector of the Montérégie region. The city is divided into three districts: Vieux-Longueuil, Greenfield Park and Saint-Hubert. Longueuil is an important center for the Canadian aerospace industry, home to the headquarters of Pratt & Whitney Canada and Héroux-Devtek. Pratt & Whitney Canada is the city's largest employer, with 5,000 employees, while Héroux-Devtek employs 550. The city is also home to the headquarters of the Canadian Space Agency (John H. Chapman Space Centre), adjacent to the Montréal/Saint-Hubert airport. The city also offers many historic sites, such as the archaeological remains of Fort Longueuil, a National Historic Site of Canada. Longueuil is easily accessible from Montreal thanks to a well-developed public transit network.
