GROTTE DE DRAGOBI
This is the place where the hero Bajram Curri, after whom the nearby town is named, died in 1925. A bucolic, signposted trail.
This narrow, shallow cave (Shpella e Dragobisë) is where, on March 29, 1925, the hero Bajram Curri died, giving his name to the nearby town. Surrounded by King Zog's troops, the Kosovo activist chose to kill himself so that the lives of the men accompanying him could be spared. The path leading to the site is bucolic and well-marked. Further along the road to Bajram Curri, the hamlet of Dragobi also gives its name to the Dragobi goat(dia e Dragobisë), whose meat (mechoui, dried meat) and milk (formages) are used.
