Beach and overwater bungalows in a hotel with restaurant and bar in Matira.
Services of good standing in a pleasant setting. The hotel is tastefully decorated and will suit average budgets. The rooms are located in buildings high up on the hill: the beach bungalows and bungalows on stilts are on the lagoon side. The latter have a glass-bottomed floor and a pontoon with a shower to access the lagoon. Two restaurants, a bar and an activity office. Every Saturday in high season, a buffet evening is offered.

This is an excellent 3 star hotel for over water bungalows or beach side bungalows or attached rooms on two levels on the other side of the road. Rooms generally face east so you will see the sun rise in the morning over the water. The front desk is friendly and helpful. Terrific snorkeling over imported coral some of which is in standing room water. The beach is small but lovely, not crowded, and the water is warm. Great variety of tropical fish and an occasional harmless manta ray. Rooms are comfortable with excellent AC adjustable to any level of cold. The TV has few stations, all in French. The WiFi is intermittent in the rooms, but we were able to watch on our laptop what little we wanted to watch through Youtube and previously downloaded series on Netflix, Max and Prime. You can pay extra for high quality internet. The hotel is 4 blocks from the local grocery store, open at 6 a.m., where I got things like a six pack of 1.5 liter bottles of water, French wines, local cheeses, a still warm freshly made baguette (which sells out early, sometimes before 8 a.m.), butter, yogurt and prepared food like marinated raw tuna (which also sell out early), all reasonably priced. The room refrigerator is very handy. In the morning, after going to the market, I would take my laptop to the open air hotel lobby, where the WiFi is strong, and read the news and look at emails. Tip: if you sit in the lovely lobby area, ask the front desk to put on the fans in the lobby seating area, which makes it much more comfortable. I learned how to do it myself. By 11 a.m., the sun was high enough to be blocked by the overhang on the deck of our over water bungalow to sit in the shade and read a book before or after climbing on the ladder going down into the water where the tropical fish were nibbling on the algae on the ladder all around me while as I immersed myself into the water. Another advantage of the over water bungalows is that the air temperature is cooler over the water than it is around the bungalows closer to the street or the lobby area rooms. Also, there are free kayaks and a variety of motorized boats for rent.

Definitely one of the more basic resorts in Bora Bora, but good value for the price. We went in the off season (January) and it was fairly quiet. It is within walking distance to Matira beach and multiple restaurants. Free kayaks and snorkel gear and we were able to kayak over to the coral garden. Also some decent snorkeling right off the beach. Water fluctuated from very calm to choppy depending on the weather. Happy hour prices at the bar and decent food at their restaurant. We stayed in a beach bungalow and do not think the water bungalows would be worth the price. Great views of the sunrise.

The hotel offers great value for what you pay. The staff were all very nice and informative. The hotel has one of the best beaches in Vaitape and the food in the Beach Bar was lovely. You can also book a lot of activities through the hotel.
