THE BROOCH CASTLE
It was built in the. area and was built from 1895 to 1898. Built on the Azay-le-Rideau model, he now serves as high school. It is the last Renaissance castle built in France. It was Stephen Liégard, under-prefect and son of a former mayor who built him, not without the assistance of his wife Mathilde, rich héritière of a master of Lorraine Forges. Liégard would also have inspired Alphonse Daudet, his contemporary, who would have taken it as a model for the character of the Sous-Prefect in the fields. Our man is also the origin of the Cote d'Azur appellation, which he gave to the French Mediterranean coast called the French Riviera.
