SITES DE PLONGÉE

We can dive across the Manihi lagoon, but most of the sites are located a few kilometres from the Pearl Beach Hotel (closed to date, as is its associated diving centre), at the edge of the pass and the currents and the western tip of the atoll.

A curiosity: The mottled Occitan, which reproduces itself in a fascinating spectacle.

Tairapa Pass. This narrow passage takes place on the surface, accompanied by the boat on the surface, in the midst of colorful fish constellations. Large tuna, barracuda benches, sleepyheads sharks, white-tip sharks, leopards and manta lines…

The Falling. A little further away, falling from 3 to 1 500 m, this accessible baptisms site abounds in sharks, napoléons, giant jackfish, perch, perch, tuna and bonito. Once a year in July, thousands of groupers gather there to reproduce themselves; This is one of the most spectacular underwater events in Polynesia.

Cirque. Between the pass and the lagoon, populated by large napoléons and black-tip sharks, this is the preferred place of leopards lines and Manta lines. Solitary or in group, they appreciate eating them from time to time.

West Point. Depth from 3 to 45 m. At the western tip of Manihi, the water is very clear, we see 50 m. Many corals with strange shapes have elected home.

The Fault. A big break in the reef, the ocean side, a kind of coral amphitheatre where you can take the shark feeding of white and black tip sharks.
