Diving in Tikehau is characterized by a very rich fauna (many Manta lines in particular), and sites accessible at all levels. You're plonge most often near the Tuheiava Pass, about 10 km, or 25 min of the village boat, or in the ocean, but there are very few sites inside the lagoon.
The ancient pearl farm (- 15 m). The dive that everyone wants to do. It is a cleaning station for the Manta lines, cleaned here by skuas. A must!
The Easy Dive Pass (3 to 60 m) in an area rich in wildlife: surgeons, jackfish, barracuda, bécunes, napoléons, white shark shark from time to time. Depending on the season (rather in July and August), the pass is a place of passage for the migrations of the manta lines, beaks of cane…
The Shark Hole. A little farther away from the ocean, the Shark Hole (6 to 60 m) is accessible at all levels. Dozens of grey sharks, tuna and fish benches (including gros big eyes) go to caves rich in caves.
The buoy. Shortly after the Shark Hole, this site (6 to 25 m) has a chaotic topography alternating fire and plateaus. Very good site to follow on a 2-tank dives, and follow a pelagic sea side. They see sharks white point of the broad (called tapete), angle lines, manta lines, tuna, carangues, barracuda, then paddles, surgeons, blue balistes, canes, javanaises morays, big napoléons, turtles…
Hina Bell. This site (10 to 40 m) is the furthest away from the other side of the village of Tuherahera, so it is necessary to walk around 15 min of boat. Very good visibility, napoléons benches, shark nurseries, barracuda, pelagic fauna (sometimes a whale shark), bancs...... Fin of diving in canyons.
