On the road between Vaipaee and Hane, you'll easily find this botanical garden, unique in Polynesia. Established in 1974, this 17-hectare site is a kind of test area for numerous species from all over the world, in particular around 200 different citrus fruits representing the largest genetic collection in the Pacific, and a host of other tree and fruit species. The Marquesas are in the throes of deforestation, due to their relatively arid and salty climate, and above all to livestock farming.
