It's the island's annual sporting event! Every year at the beginning of May, marathon runners from all the archipelagos make the trip to challenge the steep, rugged landscapes of mysterious Hiva Oa. The highest point on the route is the Col de Tapeata, at 800 meters above sea level. A breathtaking backdrop for your attempt to complete the famous 42.195-kilometer course! A relay marathon is also organized at the same time.
