ROMAN RUINS OF TROY
The Roman ruins of Tróia form an amazing complex on the inner bank of the Sado estuary.
The Roman ruins of Tróia form a stunning ensemble on the inner bank of the Sado estuary. These are the remains of a city over 2,000 years old, with its houses, factories, thermal baths, mausoleum and necropolis. You'll stroll between residential buildings and tanks used for salting fish, the produce of which was distributed and sold throughout the Empire. Six centuries of history, from the 1st to the 6th century AD, in an unspoilt natural setting. Anecdotally, Hans Christian Andersen called Tróia the "Pompeii of Setúbal".
