This walking tour takes in the salt marshes just outside the village on the way to Vila Real de Santo António. It's an opportunity to discover a traditional activity in this region. Around 50 people work in salt production at Castro Marim. During the summer months, you can watch the men harvesting the white gold and erecting beautiful pyramids. Fleur de sel from this corner of the Algarve is renowned throughout the country and beyond for its quality and finesse, and is a welcome addition to the finest tables.
