NAKUM
A city with two sectors: the north, with its imposing buildings, and the south, with the main pyramid and its preserved Mayan temple at the top.
It is estimated that the golden age of this site took place during the classical period, between 700 and 900. The reason: the strategic geographical situation of the city, its proximity to the river having allowed it to play an important commercial role. Nakum is divided into two sectors. First, the North, which has been little excavated and which shelters an abundance of imposing buildings. Then, on a larger area, the South. We find there the main pyramid, at the top of which stands a well preserved Maya temple. It is connected to the North by a causeway of 250 meters long.
