Beaches in Provatas among the most beautiful of Milos as Fyriplaka with turquoise water.
Don't forget your swimsuit: the most beautiful beaches of the island border this part of Milos. They are easily accessible and most of them are big enough to have room. With a boat (every day boats leave the port to go around the island) or without, you can explore the famous emerald cave, Smaragdenia Spilia, the meteors of the sea, Thalassina Meteor, and swim between the impressive rocks of Kleftiko. Under the monastery of Aghios Ioannis, the Sikiá cave offers a unique spectacle: the sun rays filtering through a crack in the rock compose a magical symphony of colours. The turquoise water beach of Fyriplaka is one of the most remarkable. Continuing along the cliff, you will find lovely coves with orange-coloured rocks, where the water smells a bit like sulphur. Breathtaking. Past Provatas, the asphalt road turns into a track. Don't drive too fast to be able to admire the landscape. After a few kilometers, you will arrive at a crossroads, at the level of a gigantic quarry. Park and drive down the road that leads to the sea (Gerontas). At the bottom, there is a nice swimming possibility and a curious cave. Go back on the same track. After about 5 km you will reach a small monastery (Aghiou Ioannou): the most difficult part of the track is behind you. A little further on, a track starts on your left and goes down to Ioannou Beach (and a small tavern at the bottom). A real little paradise...
