CACHANGO PETROGLYPHS
Little-known site nestled in a wild natural gap, home to petroglyphs and a cemetery of ceramics and bones.
This little-known site, a half-hour walk along a path that follows the Azapa Valley road, is nestled in a sort of wild natural gap. The path that leads to it follows the access road to the sanctuary of Las Peñas, which is the object of an intense pilgrimage in December. Cachango, whose exact history is still unknown, is in fact a cemetery of ceramics and bones, beyond the kollqas (where the reserves were stored) that can be discovered. The petroglyphs are superb and it is possible to have a picnic by the river.
