GRAN PLAZA
A square at the heart of Tikal's religious, social, administrative and dynastic life, featuring numerous buildings.
Through the centuries, it was the heart of the religious, social, administrative and dynastic life of the city. Vertiginous, it constitutes the most spectacular set of Tikal, gathering the biggest number of constructions of the site. If it is framed on its four sides by monumental vestiges, the most impressive are Templos I and II, respectively drawn up in the east and in the west. Moreover, it is delimited by a line of steles and sculpted altars which contain a great part of the dynastic sequence of the place.
