TEMPLO VI
Templo VI, said to have been erected by Yik'in chan K'awiil, with a monumental headdress partly covered by inscriptions.
Nestled at the southern end of the calzada Méndez - which begins east of the Gran Plaza -, the Templo de las Inscripciones owes its name to its monumental cap, partially covered by inscriptions unique in their kind on the site of Tikal. Indeed, if the city is characterized by the exceptional quality of its vestiges, it is not the same for its scriptural heritage, almost reduced to the only glyphs of Templo VI. It would seem that they were carried out in the year 766 by Chitam. As for the building, it would have been erected by Yik'in chan K'awiil.
