TEMPLO II
Templo II or Templo des Máscaras built by Ah Cacao around 700, with a fine view of the Gran Plaza and surrounding forest from the summit.
Opposite Templo I stands the Templo de los Máscaras, so called because of the relative proximity of the gigantic masks discovered under the first steps of the Acrópolis Norte. Erected by Ah Cacao around the year 700, this structure originally identical to the Templo del Gran Jaguar is nowadays only 38 meters high. The reason for this is the work of time, which has long since taken away the cap that hung over its summit. It is highly recommended to climb it, as it offers a beautiful view of the Gran Plaza and the surrounding forest.
