HUACA EL BRUJO
The central element here is a temple where the human sacrifices of the Mochicas took place. It has walls of polychrome tones and bas-reliefs carved with dancers; one is seized with horror at the figure of the cutthroat, el Degollador. A very well preserved tattooed mummy was discovered on this site, the famous Dama de Cao (about 1,600 years old), which is on display with all its possessions. The Wiesse Foundation, which supports the project, is doing a spectacular job to ensure that the site is not forgotten. Well worth a visit.
