SANTA BÁRBARA MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT (MIRADOURO DO LA SERRA DE SANTA BÁRBARA)

A well signposted, paved road leads all the way to the left to the top of the island, at an altitude of 1,021m, from where there is a fantastic view of the lush, green slopes of the Serra, but also of much of the interior of the island and even of other islands in the central group, as the silhouettes of Pico and São Jorge taunt the view in the background. However, the panorama is only worth the trip when the weather is good, and unfortunately the area is often caught up in a capricious fog, which is not easily overcome. But happiness and unforgettable pictures are guaranteed for the lucky ones who will be able to afford the excursion in the sun!
